sanctuary swala campDay 1: Arrive Tanzania

Welcome to Arusha were you will be met and transferred to The Arusha Coffee Lodge which lies cradled in the endless acres of Tanzania’s largest coffee plantation. This exclusive boutique lodge has been designed around the farms’ original plantation homes, radiating the warmth and invitation of the old colonial plantation homes historically distinctive to the coffee plantations. Lunch and or dinner under own arrangement.

Day 2: Drive to Tarangire

After breakfast your driver guide will be waiting to transfer you in a private 4WD vehicle to Sopa Tarangire situated in the Tarangire National Park which has one of the largest populations of elephants in Tanzania. Its sparse vegetation, broken up by baobab and acacia trees, makes it a beautiful and special location. The drive from Arusha to Tarangire is approximately two hours, from the entrance of the park there is another one hour drive and there are plenty of game viewing opportunities en route. Have lunch and some time to relax before enjoying an exciting game drive by open four wheel drive vehicle. Due to the camp's secluded location you are unlikely to see many vehicles as you venture out into the national park. Return to the Lodge to freshen up before dinner.

This morning awake to the sounds of the bush as a steaming hot cup of tea or coffee is served on your tent's deck. Today is a full day on safari with morning and afternoon game drives in the park famous for its large herds of elephants, with viewing at its best from July to October when the elephants migrate through the park in search of water. Breathtaking views of the Maasai Steppe and the mountains to the south make a stop at Tarangire a memorable experience. This afternoon there is time to take a refreshing swim in the pool or relax on your private deck with a cool drink, grazing out of the waterhole and watching as the game lazily congregates in the shade to escape the midday sun. Return to camp to freshen up before meeting around the campfire for a pre-dinner drink as you discuss the day's adventures.

Day 4: Southern Serengeti

We depart with picnic boxes for the drive to Sanctuary Kusini a permanent tented camp in the southern Serengeti. The camp itself is built on a raised kopje surrounded by woodland - providing stunning views of the plains below from the main deck. Sanctuary Kusini is ideally placed to catch the migration that can be round in this area of the park from mid December to April when the zebra and wildebeest drop their young.
